My top picks from the Burberry Prorsum spring 2010 ready-to-wear show. Those puff-shouldered trenches have been mighty popular with the celebs…

“Tally ho Dior!
Equestrian chic was the big news in Christian Dior’s spring haute couture show Monday afternoon, Jan. 25, in Paris, where the house’s couturier John Galliano looked to find ladies who hunted, rather than lunched.
Specifically, Galliano referenced the late 19th century women who inspired Charles James, the neo-classical American designer whose more extravagant shapes also inspired Monsieur Christian Dior himself when he developed the 1947 New Look show, one of the most influential collections ever made.”
Here are some of my favorites:

From Moschino’s Cheap & Chic line, ready-to-wear collection for Spring 2010. Cute little jumpers and playsuits, ruffles and polka dots, bows and belted waists, high-waisted bikinis, gingham and plenty of striking black & white.

Andres Sarda debuted its Spring 2010 collection, consisting mainly of swimwear, at Madrid Fashion Week back in September.

Categories: On CatwalksRed lipstick, side-split hair falling in long shiny waves (oh so Lauren Bacall), trench coats, platform heels, ruffled skirts, cinched waists, lacy lingerie details and flimsy feminine fabrics… love it! God bless John Galliano…
Categories: On CatwalksIt seems Ralph Lauren’s take on the recession involves some neat references to the 1930s Depression, and I’m not complaining.
Paperboy caps, worn denim baggies, ladies in pinstriped three-pieces and plus fours… ring-a-ding-ding!! There were also a few pretty florals, if you care to look.

For the most part, the majority of the pieces in the collection were fairly shapeless, which is a turnoff for me, but these four looks combined the Luisa Beccaria signature wallpaper florals and pretty pastels, with a feminine 1940s-50s shape, so I might imagine wearing them.

More belted waists at Rochas, and love the flowers on the belts too. Also, more socks with sandals and t-bar pumps, as I’ve been noticing in a lot of the Paris shows. Love the bright colors and 50s silhouettes.

From Loewe’s Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection. The model is Frida Gustavsson. I found the rest of the show fairly Country Club bland, but I do love the glamour of this leather coat.

Ahh, so much to love in this one. Clingy striped sweaters, waist belts, pencil skirts, retro disc fascinators, crystal-covered cats eye glasses, seamed Cuban heel stockings (even in purple!) and rhinestone-covered strappy platform heels. But most of all – happy, laughing, smiling, dancing models! How wonderful.
