Elegant casual and Parisian chic from Alexander Berardi’s Spring 2011 show. You just can’t go wrong with classics like these – horizontal stripes in black and white, camel coloured trench coats, filmy floral tea dresses, espadrilles and belted polka dot babydoll dresses. And I adore the sequined gold harem pants, I never would have imagined myself in such a thing, but I want these!
Polka Dot Trench
From an editorial shot by Patrick Demarchelier for the US Vogue February edition, entitled “Love in the Trenches”. A kind of silly-nice idea, really. It is models with their real-life sweethearts, shot wearing trench coats from the Spring collections. Wasn’t too fond of the other shots, but I do like Aminata Niaria in this polka dot trench – a nice twist on the classic. Cute shoes, and the touch of red lippie too, a very nice clean look overall.

I stumbled across this photo of Cheryl Cole in a golden gown on the X-Factor. It reminded me of some photos of vintage starlets in metallic gowns I have set aside over the years. Another catwalk flashback: Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2010 ready to wear collection. I didn’t post it at the time, because I posted my top picks from the Spring collection, and frankly there wasn’t much difference. Plenty of black lace and lingerie as outerwear, floral satins, pencil skirts… lovely of course, but dare I say it, here is the same collection with a few overcoats thrown in? Anyway, viewed independently, there are certainly a number of pieces I would wear myself, so enjoy it from the perspective of a little distance…
