Dyna Moe has created paper dolls based on Janie Bryant’s costumes for Joan Holloway in Mad Men. Love love love!
I just found out that Mad Men’s Emmy-winning costume designer Janie Bryant produced a capsule collection for Banana Republic. There’s almost 65 pieces in the collection, wowee. Here’s a quote from Banana Republic’s Creative Director, Simon Kneen:
Working with Janie to gain a true understanding of the Mad Men look and feel was a delight. Janie was instrumental in helping us achieve the series aesthetic and standard of authenticity with this capsule collection, offering sketches, her own inspirations and actual artifacts from the production set to help inspire the Mad Men within all of us.

Categories: Celebrities, In MagazinesI’m watching Mad Men season 3 via iTunes right now, and Joan Holloway (now Joan Harris, I suppose) never ceases to astound me with her out-of-this-world beauty. Partly down to the natural va-va voom of actress Christina Hendricks, but equally to Mad Men’s costume, hair and makeup department. Actually, I haven’t really seen any photos of Christina Hendricks on the red carpet that I liked overly much. The late 50s, early 60s silhouette suits her body shape so well (those curves, for god’s sake!), but frankly modern styles make her look chubby. If only she would just have the Mad Men stylists dress her for the galas as well! Ah, maybe I’m just too attached to the character…
On the theme of Mad Men, Jo I don’t know if this beats your Mad Men Barbie dolls (can anything really beat Mad Men Barbie dolls?), but this is pretty awesome and a fun new way to procrastinate – !

The “Mad Men” Barbie Collector doll collection embodies the “Mad Men” series’ couture fashions and accessories, and its iconic 1960s style and aesthetic. The series, which is produced by Lionsgate and airs on AMC, has made history with its multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards by chronicling the lives of the men and women of Madison Avenue advertising in the 1960s. Often times when I’ve gone thrift store shopping, I can’t help but notice the particular smell that “old” clothing when I walk into the shop. It hasn’t stopped my from buying a piece I adore, but that funk is a tad off-putting. Has this happened to you?
As I was browsing through my RSS last week, I came upon this little gem from Valet Magazine. In their , tip no. 10 talked about how to get “the fix for that vintage funk” and it’s rather simple. According to Janie Bryant, the costume designer for the hit TV series , “All you have to do is mix one part vodka with two parts water in a spray bottle.” The article doesn’t say you have to spray it on the clothes, but just to be clear, you will need to. Just mixing two liquids together doesn’t clean clothes, but it can make a nice drink.
