Wonderful article in a 1939 Life Magazine about the new styles of shoes from Paris at the time. “Most popular among the spring shoe selection were the open-toe, open-heel slip ons which made “women clop when they walkâ€. Style experts claimed these shoes were too open to provide a good fit and made the feet larger.”
