Ralph Lauren Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection
It seems Ralph Lauren’s take on the recession involves some neat references to the 1930s Depression, and I’m not complaining.
Paperboy caps, worn denim baggies, ladies in pinstriped three-pieces and plus fours… ring-a-ding-ding!! There were also a few pretty florals, if you care to look.

What to wear to a dance class…
Adorable playsuits for this chorus rehearsal scene in Mrs Henderson Presents. If you showed up to one of my dance classes looking like this, I’d love you forever…

Be a good friend, care for her seam line
Back in the day, whenever you would wear tights or stockings with seam lines, girls used to help each otherĀ to make sure their seams were straight. So I messed around with the idea and created an image for my theme of the day:

My friend Elsa sent me a link where you can buy amazing tights: www.upfactory.com
I also found out another great website….. but that I’ll keep for later, hehehe
I want to keep you on your toes. Here is some pictures of what you can find.

Hair – how to tutorial
Lisa Freemont Street has some great hair tutorials on you tube. She is quite the glamour girl and clearly a fan of classic cinema and rockabilly culture. What I like about her videos is that they move along quickly and she the main points are written out. Here is her most recent video:
This video is a mixture of two styles, a more casual and a more formal one. It’s rather simple in the front, but still very lovely.
She has a myriad of videos on her page. Check out her Classic Pinup Series, Starlet Series, and Authentic Hair Technique from the 40s.

The Flapper Girl – blog
I was messing around with my Google Reader the other day (if you don’t use it, you absolutely should) and I stumbled upon The Flapper Girl which is an outstanding photoblog. Click on the link or the photos and spend some time browsing her site. In the mean time, here are a few of my favorite pictures she’s posted.

Gossip Girl – fashion wow
I don’t watch Gossip Girls, but I keep finding reason that I should! Seriously, check out those dresses. And what where they doing dressed up? I would guess prom, but from what I’ve seen that they wear to school, they could have just gotten back from grocery shopping.

Beautiful Besame Cosmetics
I’ve played with Besame Cosmetics, and I can say it’s a lovely brand of makeup, with a spot-on accurate palette of vintage colors. But mainly, it’s the gorgeous vintage-recreation packaging that I love. If I ever stop travelling and find myself with my own dressing table, this is what would be on it. In the photo above is Gabriela Hernandez, the founder of the company.

Jean Harlow – The Original Platinum Blonde
Jean Harlow was born Harlean Carpenter in Kansas City, Missouri in 1911. In her short life (she died at the age of 26), she became one of film history’s greatest icons, and the original blonde bombshell. She was the first movie actress to appear on the cover of Life magazine. In her 10 year acting career, she made 36 movies, including Howard Hughes Hell’s Angels (with her famous line, “Would you be shocked if I changed into something more comfortable?”), Platinum Blonde, Red Dust, The Secret Six, Wife vs. Secretary, Dinner at Eight, and Bombshell. To accompany her escalating career, in 1935 she legally changed her name to Jean Harlow, her mother’s maiden name. She was married three times, and was engaged to actor William Powell when she died of kidney failure (a result of the scarlet fever she had suffered as a child) in 1937. She is buried in the mausoleum in Forest Lawn Glendale, in Los Angeles.

Luisa Beccaria Spring 2010: Top Picks

For the most part, the majority of the pieces in the collection were fairly shapeless, which is a turnoff for me, but these four looks combined the Luisa Beccaria signature wallpaper florals and pretty pastels, with a feminine 1940s-50s shape, so I might imagine wearing them.
